Dj Luke Nasty made a name for himself by sampling some of the biggest hits and flipping them into his own. Who can forget the Xscape sample that turned into the hit “Might Be” or the Tony Toni Tone sample that turned into the bop “OTW“? Those joints were bonafide hits and DJ Luke Nasty decided to do what he does best and continue with his sample flipping. Yet this time, he decided to push the envelope a little too far. In 1996, Kirk Franklin released “Melodies From Heaven” and it instantly became a gospel classic. Yeap you read that right, a gospel classic so it was surprising when Luke Nasty put his flair on it and concocted a strip club anthem 😳. I can not front, I was like ….Noooooooo!, Yet the end result was a legit head nodder. Well once Kirk heard the sample of his song laced with profanity and the cover art for the track draped in ass cheeks, Kirk shut it down instantly. The song titled “Rain” was scrubbed from the internet with the quickness. But like all things, once it hits the net, it is always there. Ask for forgiveness and take a listen to “Rain” by DJ Luke Nasty below.
