Six years removed from her introduction to the world on the reality TV series “The Rap Game“, Latto is back with her sophomore album, titled “777.” With female mc’s rightfully taking their place back among the top when it comes rapping, Latto has proven time and time again that she is the real deal. At just 23 years old, the Atlanta mc has shown that her pen can hang with the best of them. She has also proven that she can craft a hit. With the first single from the album “Big Energy” still doing numbers and sitting as her highest charting single, Latto is hoping to recapture the magic with her next single “Wheelie” featuring 21 Savage.
With “777” boasting 13 tracks, Latto lets her versatility shine on this offering. After a few listens, it is clear that she is leaning more toward a well balanced album. After the first two tracks, 777 and 777 pt. 2 (which displays Latto at her finest), she carries the album toward a pop feel. Tracks like “Like A Thug” featuring Lil Durk and “Bussdown” featuring Kodak Black finds Latto perfecting her sing flow. Yet even when her tracks have more of a radio feel, the lyrics are still top notch. Guest features do not over crowd the album, with Lil Wayne and Nardo Wick lending their talents to the album. Not officially attached to the album, yet Mariah Carey joined Latto on the remix to “Big Energy.” Overall, “777” is a solid project that should continue to get major spins well into the spring.
