Busta Rhymes has been a dominant force in the rap game for over 30 years. Yes you read that right, for over 30 years and shows no signs of slowing. Having provided us with hits on top of hits such as “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” and “Touch It“, Busta has steadily provided us with great music. With 9 solo studio albums under his belt, there was one album in particular that took his status to another level. Back in 1998, he dropped “Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front“. The album was a commercial success, going platinum within a month. It also spawned the singles “Gimme Some More” and “What’s It Gonna Be? (featuring Janet Jackson) which in turn sparked epic and stunning videos.
So in August of 2020 when Busta announced that a sequel to the album was on the way, the anticipation started to rise. The aforementioned album was titled “Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath Of God“. So the question on everyone’s mind is could “E.L.E. 2” really live up to the hype and be just as good as “E.L.E.“? Well on October 30th we got our answer, an astounding “Yes“. But wait a minute, Busta Rhymes was not done yet, he decided to go back to the lab and release the “Reloaded” version of the album with 4 new songs. One of the 4 new tracks is “Calm Down” featuring Eminem which Busta released over 6 years ago as a loosie.
Stacked with a total of 26 tracks featuring some of the biggest names in the game, “E.L.E. 2” is already garnering major praise. Chris Rock, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige are just some of the few who show up for guest features. J.Dilla, Da Rockwilder, and 9th Wonder handle things on the production end. There is no denying that 22 years after part one of “E.L.E.” hit store shelves, that “E.L.E. 2” is poised to be a worthy follow-up.
