Detroit-based rapper Babyface Ray is a rising star in the world of hip-hop. With his unique laid-back flow, Babyface Ray has quickly become a fan favorite and has slowly started to gain worldwide appeal. Now, to be honest, Ray has not been on my radar much. A few songs have bounced around my playlists, but it was when he dropped “Spend It,” that he actually got repeat listens. “Spend It” is a cut off of his most recent album “MOB“, which was released at the end of last year. With the track being almost four months old, it was surprising to see it finally getting play on local Georgia radio stations.
“MOB” is the second album by Ray and so far has produced his biggest hit, in my opinion. It is his first single that I heard getting spins of radio stations down here in Georgia. The track features Nija on the hook and Blxst with a verse. The track finds Ray toning down the roughness and going more for a radio-friendly type of track, and it works in his favor.
Overall, “Spend It” is a standout song in Babyface Ray’s discography, showcasing his unique sound and raw lyrical talent. With its mesmerizing beat, memorable chorus, and dope lyrics, it is no wonder that the song has become such a fan favorite. For anyone looking to delve into the world of Detroit hip-hop, “Spend It” is an essential listen.
